Salon Series Announced
NBCS Announces its Salon Series 2020
The Salon Series is a new initiative offered by the Newark Boys Chorus School. In an intimate setting, donors and invited guests will enjoy an afternoon of music and theater performed by well-known artists and upcoming superstars in the professional world. The goals of this endeavor include building new audiences, honoring NBCS donors, fundraising, and increasing connections between NBCS and the professional arts community.
Salon Series concerts kick off in January 2020 with a stunning presentation by composer, pianist, and author Eric Houghton.
While working through his recovery from addiction, Mr. Houghton composed and presented some of his most impactful works. Having enjoyed notoriety from previous works including his Pioneer Songs and two other large-scale historical works, Victory Songs and Passion Songs, Houghton authored an acclaimed account of his recovery from alcohol addiction in the book, “Boozehound! Breaking a 30-Year Obsession.”
Houghton’s is a compelling story of triumph and grit that he will present in word and song on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 4:00pm in the home of Mark Covey and Israel Ehrisman. He will be joined by singer Martin Hargrove who has enjoyed an international following for his warm, baritone voice.
